  4. Advanced Paramedic

    Why don’t we use venflons anymore ?
    These new cannula are not any good for the following reasons;

    1. No wings to hold the cannula properly upon insertion.
    2. No wings to affix the iv tagerderm (tape)
    2. No drug port (we rarely have 3 way taps)
    3. Upon iv cannulation you should ALWAYS flush it to confirm patency. Without a 3 way tap why connect a giving set and iv fluid bottle to find out the cannula is not correct.
